The grapes for this wine are selected with the desired ripeness and acidity from high-altitude vineyards in the Douro region. After gentle destemming, they are pressed and the free-run juice is separated from the first pressings. The juice is then left to settle at low temperature under the control of the oenologist. Once the juice is sufficiently clear, selected yeasts are added, and the wine ferments slowly at controlled temperature, between 16oC and 18oC. At this temperature, the fermentation takes around 20 days. Finally, the wines are stored at the Vila Real winery, care being taking to keep wines from different vineyards and varieties
During the period between the alcoholic fermentation and the final blending, these batches of wine are tasted and analysed over and over again to determine their quality. After careful selection, the final blend is made in Avintes, where it is clarified and stabilised before bottling.
This wine is already delicious and ready to drink three months after bottling, but it will remain in optimum condition for a couple of years, provided it is stored in a horizontal position in a cool, dry, dark place, at between 10oC and 15oC.
Serve between 8oC-10oC.
Vila Regia White is an ideal wine to accompany light meals such as salads, white meat, fish or seafood dishes, or to serve on its own as an aperitif.
