THE WINE
Within the range of the Herdade do Peso estate, Vinha do Monte Red is a delicious wine truly typical of the Alentejo. The estate produces entrancing, exuberant wines with flavours, aromas and colours that remind us of life at its best, the happy, gently-paced life of the Alentejo region.
TASTING NOTES
This wine is bright red in colour. It has aromas of cherry and plum, and fruity flavours, along with smooth tannins, good acidity and a very long finish.
HARVEST YEAR
2014 in the Alentejo, and more specifically in Vidigueira, was a year of excellent quality. Practically no rain fell in the latter part of the summer and during the ripening period, and temperatures rarely exceeded 35oC. The nights were always cool, as is typical in the area, between 15oC and 17oC. The resulting grapes were of very high quality.
WINEMAKER: Luis Cabral de Almeida

WINEMAKING
Made at Herdade do Peso from carefully-selected grapes. The grapes were carefully monitored, picked at optimum phenolic ripeness, and transported to the winery. After total destemming and gentle crushing, the juice was fermented, with skin contact, in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 25oC for about eight days, with the aim of maximising fruit flavours to make an easy-drinking red wine.
MATURATION
After malolactic fermentation, the wine spent about six months in stainless steel tank and was then blended, fined, cold stabilised and filtered as required prior to bottling.
STORE
Herdade do Peso Vinha do Monte Redshould be stored on its side in a cool, dark, dry place. The wine is at its peak 6 months after bottling, and can develop in a positive way for another 2 to 3 years.
SERVE
It should ideally be served at a temperature somewhere between 15oC -17oC.
